Overview
Our Jerusalem Mount of Olives and Temple Mount Tour will take you to the iconic Temple Mount, house to the Dome of the Rock and the Al-Aqsa Mosque, as well as the legendary Mount of Olives and Kidron Valley. Offering pickup from hotels in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Netanya and Herzliya, this Jerusalem tour takes you to places that are holy to Jews, Christians and Muslims. The Temple Mount in Jerusalem is the former site of the Holy Jewish Temple, the holiest site to Jews, and is also the third holiest site in Islam, after Mecca and Medina. The Mount of Olives, with its Christian churches and Jewish cemetery, has immense symbolic relevance.
Our tour will begin with a panoramic view of Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives, one of the most memorable and stunning vantage points of the city. Departing from the viewpoint, the tour travels past the Kidron Valley passing ancient Jewish tombs en route to the Old City of Jerusalem. The cemetery, which is still used today, dates back some 3000 years and houses approximately 70,000-300,000 graves. Venturing into the Kidron Valley the tour will visit several monumental tombs including that of Avshalom, the Tomb of Zechariah and the Tomb of Benei Hezir. The Kidron Valley is also notable as it is mentioned in the Torah as the place where King David fled from Avshalom. From the Kidron Valley, the tour will enter Jerusalem’s Old City via the Dung Gate as you head towards the Temple Mount. Once inside, visitors can marvel at the picturesque golden dome while learning the unique history behind this site, and why it is so sacred and important to all religions. After taking in the spectacle of the Temple Mount, our tour will visit the Davidson Center, an archaeological park located near the Temple Mount and the site where excavations date back to both the First and Second Temple Periods.
